Award-winning BBQers open Q-to-U-BBQ in Anthem

Just in time for Fourth of July festivities, Q-to-U-BBQ opened its doors July 1. The new Anthem restaurant is owned and operated by David and Karyn Rosol, with their boys Ryan and Zachary assisting.

Award-winning BBQers, the Rosols regularly compete in Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) sanctioned competitions under the nationally ranked team Toys 4 BBQ’N. In 2008 they were recognized as the 4th ranked team in Arizona for competitive barbecue.

Now the family wants to share their passion for slow-smoked barbecue. The eatery features their own recipes and freshly-made sauces and rubs. Appetizers include smoke-fried chicken wings, pulled pork nachos, sweet potato fries, stuffed potato skins, and deep-fried mac and cheese.

Sandwiches from the Smoker are served on a toasted bun, lightly drizzled with homemade Q-to-U-BBQ sauce and sprinkled with Q-to-U-BBQ rub.

If you’re really hungry, go for The Papa Jack, a double dose of your choice of Pulled Pork, Pulled Chicken or Brisket on a jumbo bun, drizzled and sprinkled of course with their specialty sauce and rub. Or try Ribs to Die For, slow-smoked ribs over hickory wood for more than 6 hours.

Other menu items include salads, chicken strips, gourmet hamburger, Hawg Dawg, sampler platters, and homemade bread pudding. They also serve beer.

Job openings are available for cashiers, line cooks, bussers and dishwashers. Apply at the restaurant.

We just finished gobbling down the Loosen Your Belt sampler platter. I agree — it’s the best BBQ we’ve ever had!

Loosen Your Belt comes with 1/2 slab of ribs, pulled pork, smoked chicken thigh, brisket, and your choice of 2 pint-size sides. We chose the potato salad and coleslaw. Everything was awesome. Two thumbs up

We were looking forward to the opening for quite a while and have to say were very disapointed, food was dry, price was not that great and store was very small. Too bad as we dont have many options in Anthem area but will spend the extra time to drive and get better food.

We took our family to Q-to-U this weekend, kids menu was decent, prices were not that great, plan on spending $50 for a family of 5, food was mediocre at best. Too bad, Anthem could have really used a good new restaurant….Guess were sticking with Pig N Whistle

We just tried Q-to-U BBQ. The pulled pork sandwhich with potato salad was very tasty. I definitely recommend this place to anyone that is looking for quality bbq at a reasonable price.

We ordered a takeout combo from this restaurant and I needed a microscope to find the meat!
The slab of ribs was at most 3 ribs and the clump of brisket was no more than 2 inches in diameter. A total ripoff for the price! On top of that the meat was dry and tasteless. I will never go back. I’ll drive all the way to Cave Creek to Bryan’s BBQ for the next one.

AWARD WINNING?? WHERE??!! ILLINOIS DOESNT COUNT! People from Illionios claiming to be BBQ pro’s is like asians running a mexican food joint!

This is the southwest and we take pride in our BBQ! Its where it was originated! This food here was a terrible attempt at BBQ. Greasy nasty small portions and runny potato salad that was hard to even pay for when we got our check!

Dont waste your time or money here…or your health! Go to Phoenix! OR TEXAS!!

Worst food I have ever tasted. The sauce is all sugar although it is unable to mask the the pork which is greasy and of the lowest quality. The fries were equally poor and over salted to the maximum.
While there i overheard the owner arguing with an older fellow who wanted to purchase a smaller portion, the owner claiming that he was losing money while trying to shame the guy for ordering off the kids menu. The guy politely asked for his money back and left. I would think that in this day and age, any sale would be a good sale. Shaky business model if you ask me.

Try Bryans in Cave Creek, or go to Texas.

Terrible barbecue-dry, chinzy portions-greasy and full of sugar

If you like dry pork and high fructose corn syrup sweet barbecue sauce, over salted, greasy fries, and unfriendly, strip mall service, this is your place.

    Terrible barbecue!

Stoped in and tried their sandwich .. Dry no flavor and it looked like a sandwich from Mikey D – from the dollar menu . Expected more from this fast food joint. Might as well just go to the food court in the mall. Won’t be back!!

I usually don’t review restaurants, but when someone claims to be the best at something and so CLEARLY misses the mark, I feel it my duty to warn others before they get sucked in to the lies.

My company keeps catering lunches from this place and I cannot figure out why. There’s only two or three out of the 15 or 20 of us that actually like it. By far, this is the worst BBQ I’ve ever had.

I have to agree with the reviewers above, the sauce tastes like it’s mostly corn syrup and processed garbage, while the meat is either mealy or hard to find, and the french fries are soggy and nasty. Never consistent food. The ownership isn’t much to write home about, either. The people there were rude the only time I went in there and an experience I had with the owner at an outside event left me with the impression that he was just arrogant enough to lie about his crappy food and believe every word of it.

One other thing, I tried the “Hawg Dawg” once when my boss decided to take orders, because I figure that even this place couldn’t screw up a deep-fried, bacon-wrapped, cheese-filled sausage topped with jalapenos, but they did! How? I have no idea, but this thing had little flavor and the sausage was SO chewy!

I’ve decided to bring my own lunch from now on when my boss caters this crap. I just can’t do it anymore. If they’ve truly won awards, I would hate to have eaten the losers’ food from those competitions.
